UNDERGROUND CATHEDRALS…

is the working title of a broad research project I’m doing as part of CuratorLab, a postgraduate curatorial programme at Konstfack, Stockholm…

I first came to acknowledge the persona of Frank Heron – through biographical hearsay – shortly before the work of Frank Heron. It was an explanation from Åsa Liptik, whom I had just met for the first time, in a bar in Telefonplan, Stockholm…

On the 22nd May I’ll be giving at reading of a fictocritical text I’m working on longer-term,  illustrated by, among other things, three new commissions in the tiny but beautiful sound studio at Konstfack, Telefonplan, Stockholm.

The essay investigates the relationships between a diaspora of artists and writers as their artistic and personal influences flow in and out of each other’s lives, from New York City to Venice, Stockholm and eventually the Kenozero national park,  Russia.

Underground Cathedrals is written in close collaboration with the Stockholm-based collective Raketa and Roger Connah, Associate Professor at the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, Carleton University, Canada.
